NSA Sheep 2010: lamb cutting and cooking

Lamb will be put through its paces in a series of cutting and cooking activities at NSA Sheep 2010, to be held at the Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern on Tuesday 3 August by the National Sheep Association and co-organiser, the Three Counties Agricultural Society.

Visitors will be able to watch throughout the day entrants to the Best Farm Shop Award and the Best English Farm Shop Award, featuring both farm shop owners and their butchers preparing a variety of cuts from a whole carcase and making up lamb burgers in an initiative designed by the NSA working with EBLEX.

NSA will be staging Ready Steady Cook. Styled on the popular TV series, the NSA customised version has gained support from three national levy boards and will feature solely lamb.

Staged in the ASDA Kitchen, the first round will see Farmers Weekly livestock editor, JonathanLong competing with Farmers Guardian editor, Emma Penny followed by Innovis’s Eurion Thomas going head to head with Northern Ireland NSA development officer, Edward Adamson. The ASDA Kitchen will continue to run cookery demonstrations featuring lamb throughout the day.

“We are pleased to stage these two initiatives which will not only feature traditional cuts but demonstrate the versatility of lamb presented in the form of new and innovative cuts,” says NSA Sheep 2010 organiser, Helen Davies.

“In addition, watching the participants at work will provide an interesting and genuine attraction for visitors.”
