Working demonstrations to improve technical skills
Sheep farmers and shepherds visiting NSA Sheep 2010 will be able to brush up on a variety of technical skills at a series of working demonstrations held at the industry’s biennial event staged by the National Sheep Association at the Three Counties Show Ground, Malvern on Tuesday, August 3.
The advantages of good quality fence erection will come under the microscope when over a dozen professional fencing contractors will test their skills against their fellow competitors for the Tornado Wire Fencer of the Year award which has £1,500 at stake. The two man teams will have three hours to erect 70 linear metres of Tornado High Tensile stock fence.
The National Association of Agricultural Contractors is staging practical demonstrations throughout the day on the latest scanning and shearing techniques, while Trafalgar will be demonstrating the finer points of sharpening shears and inviting visitors to bring their own to the stand.
Novartis Animal Health will offer the opportunity to visitors to get to grips with worm resistance management with a couple of practical demonstrations, Gallagher Power Fence will be putting Smart Fence, the alternative to netting through its paces, while ASDA will be running lamb cookery demonstrations every 45 minutes.
NSA Sheep 2010 organiser Helen Davies comments: “NSA works hard to help all sheep farmers improve their efficiency and we are pleased to offer visitors a wide range of working demonstrations all in one location and on one day.”
